In a world overflown by information, our attention is increasingly being tested. But what is attention? How does it work? And what digital persuasion techniques are being used to get it?

We made a 5-part documentary series about it for Dutch public television called TMI: Aandacht (TMI: Attention). It was broadcasted on channel NPO3 between August 29th and September 26th of 2019.

SIRE Laat Jongens Weer Jongens Zijn – Commercial

Boys and girls are the same, but not equal. Boys are three times more likely to get a medication subscription for ADHD, get advised to go to lower-education schools more often than girls with the same test-scores. The boys need their space to develop too, instead of being told ‘no’ a lot of times. That’s the bottom-line of this campaign by Sire. We provided the animations for this project. All the animations were created with analogue techniques. We experimented a lot with different materials to create patterns, wipes and transitions. We used ink, pencil and paint on paper for the elements, as well as bubble wrap plastic, dices and tape to create background patterns. The text effects were done by moving paper over a scanner whilst scanning.
We wanted the analogue techniques to be simple, as if the boys in the commercial made the animations themselves.
It was a a lot of fun being dogmatic about the animation style, and it laid the foundations for some later projects.

Winner of a bronze Effie Award, an Esprix Award 2018 and two SAN ACCENT Awards 2018.

Samsung In-Traffic Reply

Our friends at Cheil asked us to create a world for Samsung In-Traffic Reply, a new app that automatically replies to incoming messages while you’re in traffic. We were responsible for all the designs and animation. We created a promotional video, a case-film, a bunch of In-Traffic Replies (short cartoons) and in-app animations of the characters and vehicles.
The app is now a standard feature on all Samsung smartphones and won a Red Dot Award and a Webby Award in 2018.
